2023 Marketing recap

2023 Recap: What Is Still Relevant Going Into 2024?

It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone. With the new year, we will undoubtedly see shiny new marketing trends. Some will be a flash in the pan, while others will provide enough results to stick around. Before we dive deeper into new trends for 2024, we want to look back at previous ones we’ve talked about here on the blog. The following 5 trends have provided enough value to earn a longer stay in our marketing toolbox.

1. Video Marketing

Video marketing has been around for a while, but its recent dominance is a result of rising platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube shorts. The transient nature of short-form videos combined with their visual appeal perfectly suits the short attention spans of today’s audiences. As social platforms continue to promote the use of video content, we’re expecting to see a rise in video advertising in 2024.

Interesting fact: As of this year, nearly 70% of consumers turn to Instagram for their next purchase – and Instagram is notoriously known for its short-form video content. If you aren’t incorporating video in your marketing efforts, now is the time to get started!

2. Hyper-Personalization

Today’s consumers have come to expect tailor-made experiences. Using sophisticated analytics, brands can harness the vast amount of data available to them, be it from websites, social media, or face-to-face interactions. Using this data allows for hyper-personalized marketing strategies where everything from content and advertisements to product recommendations are customized for individual consumers. As algorithms and big data technologies continue to evolve, this trend will only become more refined, turning mass marketing into an outdated approach.

While personalization is an excellent way to attract and gain new customers, it’s also a great way to retain them. Click here to read how personalization can help combat customer churn.

3. Social Media Advertising

Similar to video marketing, social media advertising isn’t a new concept, but is something that experiences new trends within itself all the time. As we head into 2024, we can expect to see more emphasis on social media advertising as it becomes more interactive and personalized. With increased opportunities for product and service promotions, including in-platform shopping and consultations, social media will continue to be a key channel for targeted advertising.

4. Blogging

Blogging can be a powerful component of any digital marketing strategy – it can help generate more organic traffic to your website, boost brand awareness, and help you connect with your audience. While blogging is still very relevant as we look ahead into the new year, there are some new tactics to consider, which is exactly why we wanted to include it. Some of these new tactics are items we’ve mentioned in this post: video and social media.

Blog content, video content, and social media should all be interconnected. From featuring videos on your blog to sharing your blog posts on your social platforms or using a video on Instagram, TikTok or Facebook to promote your blog – it all works together to get your content in front of your audience. Any one thing on its own is already beneficial to your marketing strategy, but using them all together works to your advantage and gets you the results you’re looking for.

Here are some blogging stats that we shared in this post and think are worth sharing again:

  • Blogging can increase your leads by 67% and get you nearly 97% more links to your website.
  • Businesses that blog get twice as much email traffic as businesses that don’t.
  • 68.5% of consumers say that a blog adds credibility to a website.
  • 60% of consumers say blog posts are valuable in the early stages of the buying process.
  • An overwhelming 77% of Internet users read blogs.

5. Strong Brand Identity

A strong, recognizable brand identity can make all the difference in terms of brand awareness and growth. It’s what attracts consumers to you. And as we look ahead into 2024, we see that consumers are placing greater importance on brand identity, purpose, and social responsibility.

Customers prefer brands that are authentic and impactful, which is why we’ve been seeing branding strategies geared towards sustainability and other social responsibilities. Simply put, consumers are seeking out brands that align with their values.
